New Secret Night View Spot - Bukit Gambir

It's not my first time to hike at night,

First time it was in New Zealand when we were doing the Abel Tasman;
Second time was Gunung Ledang, where we decided to stay top of the mountain until we start to feel the coldness

Well, topic back to the Bukit Gambir.

I didn't know where we were going until gotten on my friend's car. Ok, even she told me it was Bukit Gambir, I had no idea where is it.

It was a dark night, almost dark and there wasn't moonlight as we expected. Using the torchlight of my phone, we started the hike.

I would say, most of the hike was staircase, at least a proper route instead of in the bush. It was better, but still felt unsafe afterall. I had totally no idea what would we meet in the half way, what was the distance of the hike an etc. However, my friend looked confident and I trusted her.

From 9.20pm to 9.50pm, we took half an hour to reach the hill top. The view was stunning. Compared to the Penang Hill, the height of Bukit Gambir was lesser and the view of building was closer to us. We can view the both bridge and the view was 180 degree.

After spending some time at hill top, we started to walk down at about 11pm. There was a dog on the hill top following us. It made me a bit frustrated because it was too "hyper" and suddenly it wouldn't move and blocked my way; or suddenly he ran from my behind and may have pushed me.

Overall, it was not an difficult hike; but right after I have told my boyfriend I went to Bukit Gambir for hiking, at midnight and only with one friend, he was so angry. Due to the king cobra existence and his friend lost his way during the hike, he said I was lucky that I was still surviving.

I wouldn't recommend you to do the hiking at night because it could be very dark and you have to very familiar the route else you may get lost easily. At least my friend visited few times before but she may really have a good memory.

I'm glad that I read the king cobra news after the hike; or else I would never been see this secret spot in Penang.
