So, is hitchhiking possible in Malaysia?
"What make you hitchhike in Malaysia? Because as we local thinks, it is not common, and it is not easy." It was the question from me to the surfer.
She linked me to a webpage, called hitchwiki. When we type Malaysia, it shows "Malaysia is a really great country for hitchhiking."
Everybody has their own stories. I strongly believe there must be some negative stories which may be not shown in the webpage. Of course, good and open-minded people are everywhere, it is not impossible to hitchhike in Malaysia.
I came across this blog - talking why Malaysian doesn't like hitchhiking. "If you don't have money, then better you just stay at home." One of the common thinking among Malaysian community.
"There is no free lunch in the world" a taxi driver said. Everybody is looking for a way for living. No one will purposely bring you from one point to another point, for nothing. But this is actually not the basic of hitchhiking.
On highways, we often see cars with only one driver, or with one passenger. Getting full (5 pax) in a car is very rarely seen actually. Hitchhiking, from my view, is like if I were the driver, I am heading to Ipoh from Kuala Lumpur, and hitchhiker would like to go Penang, I would drop him at the point convenient in Ipoh for his next destination. The concept should be like, travel to the same destination / middle point, we share stories and company.
If I have an empty seat on my car and I am yawning during driving alone, hitchhiker, why not?!
